Annual Torrey Armstrong Memorial Lecture & Law Clerk Reception

This year's Torrey Armstrong Lecture was especially memorable.  Our keynote speaker was Dean Risa L. Goluboff, the twelfth (and first female) dean of the University of Virginia, School of Law.  Dean Goluboff addressed the lessons to be learned from and the role of lawyers in the wake of the Charlottesville riots. 

After Dean Goluboff's remarks, each of the district and magistrate judges from the Alexandria Division of the Eastern District of Virginia, along with the Alexandria bankruptcy judges and Judge Keenan of the Fourth Circuit, introduced their impressive class of 2017-2018 term law clerks.

FBA-NOVA was also pleased to recognize the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee, retiring from the Eastern District of Virginia bench after 25 years of distinguished service on the bench.  FBA-NOVA President, Tom Connally, United States Attorney Dana Boente, and Federal Public Defender Geremy Kamens each paid tribute to Judge Lee's incredible career.
